Congratulations to Justin “Mack Truck” Maguire!

Another week, another Ultimate Performance personal trainer qualifies for the UKBBF British Bodybuilding Championships. Its getting all just a bit too predictable really! With exceptionally talented bodybuilding personal trainers (Justin Maguire, Mike Porter, Lee Spencer, maybe even I can be tempted back one last time…!) it is no wonder that our London personal training gym is rapidly being recognised as THE gym to come to if you want the best bodybuilding personal training in the country!

Following hot on the heels of Mike Porter’s recent success, one of our most popular (and unmissable!) bodybuilding personal trainers, Justin “Mack Truck” Maguire, rocked and shocked the audience at the prestigious Stars of Tomorrow by unveiling a physique the like of which we rarely see on the competitive stage. If I may use the appropriate bodybuilding parlance, Justin was ripped to the bone, has a back so broad and a waist so tiny that makes you think he could fly if he flapped his “wings”, weighed in at an outstanding 248lbs (17st 10) at 6ft 3 inches, and to top it all off he has only recently turned 23 years young! Justin was in the line at least twice (I suspect he hung around a few more times on top of that) when God was giving out what we in bodybuilding call the ideal classical structure of wide clavicles, small hips, and long muscle bellies, and given his height this means he has a hell of of a lot of space to fill out so it’s no disgrace that he came second in his first ever senior contest to a much older bodybuilder (from my own original “home” gym of Muscleworks) who just carried a little too much overall muscle thickness in the lower body.

Do you think Justin knows how to build quality muscle?

Do you think Justin knows how to build quality muscle?

All was hardly lost with that result however, as Justin was good enough to win a discretionary qualifying place at the British Bodybuilding Finals, and perhaps more indicative of his great potential and even better temperament is the fact that the only UK focused muscle magazine, “The Beef”, chose Justin as the subject of their next photo shoot and in depth interview. Everyone wants a piece of a future star and The Beef were hot on his case as soon as the show was over. It is rather telling that Justin and not the winner was selected, perhaps they see how far this South African giant can go in the world of bodybuilding if he works hard and fulfills his potential! Watch for his bodybuilding personal training article in the February edition of the magazine.

On a personal note I’d also like to add that Justin is a class act who isn’t afraid to look at himself, both physically and mentally, and learn and develop. He has an incredible work ethic, cares about his personal training clients more than almost any other trainer I have ever known, and truly is the least menacing and most approachable 6ft 3 / 18stone plus giant you will ever meet. All in all this bodybuilding personal trainer is one of the most vital, important, and enjoyable members of the UP family.

Justin, when you eventually step on stage in Vegas you’ll have a supporting contingent even better than Ricky Hatton had on his visit!!

  • Michael Porter
Well done brother! You looked phenomenal prior to your show and I only wish I could have been their to support you. That picture is sick, if anyone wants an example of true V-taper...thats the one!
  • Justin 'Mack Truck' Maguire is a true role model. Not just in the way he has developed a championship winning physique but in the way he composed himself during his intense training for this competition. I have worked with many soldiers and trainers in the depths of the trenches and the heat of the gym but i have rarely worked with people that are as determined, disciplined and enthusiastic for success (not just for himself but his own clients also). Well done Justin you have joined Mike Porter as an inspiration to myself by working hard and achieving great things.
