Wise men will always tell us that life is all about balance, but in my experience people who bang on about this are either individuals who have never achieved anything of great significance in their lives, or characters who have reached certain heights of accomplishment and then conveniently forgotten about the drive that got them there. Certainly for me, inurred in the bodybuilding philosophy of Schwarzenneger from my eary teens, nothing succeeds like excess. I posted a video of Will Smith a while back in what I found to be a very inspirational blog.
A lot of people don’t understand the drive to be different, in fact it casts a shadow on their own insecurities which is why a lot of you seeking to better your lives will have met with much resistance from friends and family who should have been encouraging you down the path of positive self improvement. Apologies if that last sentence was a bit too Tony Robbins for your taste, I am not one to get caught up in motivational pop pom waving, however I do feel that we should constantly strive to develop ourselves physically, mentally, and emotionally.
All that being said, sometimes it is possible to push things a bit too far and there is a fine line between healthy focus and drive and an unhealthy obsession. Do your own thing certainly, but don’t do it at the expense of alienating all those around you as in the long run it does make your own life harder…as one the Ultimate Performance gang found out all too recently. I popped around to his flat to discuss the imminent launch of our brand new UP website only to be confronted in his small communal hallway by the image you see below. Read it carefully and take heed…always be considerate of others, even if we don’t care if they don’t appreciate your quest for a better body, they don’t have to live with the consequences (and putrid odours) of your endeavours! (Oh how I laughed at this…)
